When I look back while writing this and think about what happened, it surprises me that the happenings are so real.  It does not feel at all like a dream. Everything is real. When I then think about it a little bit more, it feels so incredibly wonderful that God has given to us the privilege to help other people by his own power and that we are allowed to use for example the manifestation of gifts of healing.  And it is as simple as speaking in tongues.

Friday morning 23^rd March 2007 at 8:50 when I opened my portable phone I got the following text message from Raija Pohjolainen regarding her 15 year old son Samuel:

Raija 23^rd  march . at 8:23

            Samuel unconcious in the morning, now in ambulance.

I told this immediately to Elizabeth, my wife, who was getting ready to go to work. Then we sat down and prayed for Samuel and Raija.

I turned the situation around in my head praying about it while I was making my notes for a seminar I was going to teach in the city of Tampere during the following weekend. Then about 9:30 I called to the Pohjolainen’s home phone.  Daniel (their younger son aged 8 years) answered the phone. He said that Saara, his older sister was at the horse stable working and Raija (their mother) had gone in the ambulance to the central hospital of Espoo with Samuel. Samuel had not woken up in the morning and he had been breathing weakly and abruptly. Daniel was however very peaceful.

Half an hour later I called again.  Saara had come from the stable and she told the same things Daniel had already told to me. She added that everything was fine at their home with Daniel and the horses.

At eleven I called to Rev. Laurence Torr and told him about the situation. He got very angry at our adversary, because he had healed Samuel after a meeting last November and this had stayed in his mind as such a great victory for God.  We prayed for Samuel and Raija over the phone. Later I heard that after this phone call Laurence and his wife Kim had rebuked the adversary in this situation.

Ten minutes later Raija called for the first time.  She told me that the doctors were examining Samuel with great intensity, but that they had not yet found  anything. All the possibilities were still open. The cause could be drugs, sleeping pills, epilepsy, bleeding in the brain, a virus, bacteria or anything else.

I told Raija that I had just spoken with Laurence and that we had prayed for Samuel and for her and that we were convinced that God will save and heal Samuel. I said that I had to go to teach cello lessons in East-Helsinki, but that my phone is open all the time and that as soon as I get free I will come to the hospital.  Then we finished the call since Raija had to use the little time she had being away from the side of her son to call to Saara at home.

Then I sent Laurence’s phone number to Raija.  Laurence said that he was going to stay at home next to the phone anyway.

Here are the 4 following messages from Raija:

Level of consciousness is still low. Now and again he speaks and opens his eyes but then ”disappears”. Lots more examinations, next will be taken from spinal fluid. Not a poisoning.  He is on intravenous drip all the time.     X-rays from the lungs and stomach as well as ultra sound, magnetic picture of the head, electric brain waive etc.

They think that it may be a brain infection. New samples taken from spinal fluid. At some point Samuel will be moved to Helsinki.

Now the doctors took a new heart cardiogram and started medication. After they are ready Samuel will be sent by ambulance to Children’s Clinic in Helsinki.

I am in a taxi behind the ambulance. A doctor and a couple of nurses are with Samuel. The address is the emergency unit of The Children’s Clinic in Helsinki.

I called Raija that I  got off one hour early because one of my students stayed at home with flu. I said that I will pick Elizabeth up from home and we would come to The Children’s Clinic.  Then I called Elizabeth and asked her to call Laurence and tell him that we are driving to the hospital and we are expecting to be able to minister healing to Samuel. Laurence advised us to ask the parents what they would like us to do.

About 6:30 pm we arrived at The Children’s Clinic.  We found Raija soon and I asked her what she would like us to do.  She answered: “Of course I would like you to minister healing to my son!” So we were taken into the room where Samuel was being prepared to be moved to the intensive care unit.

Raija told us that Samuel was right now just barely conscious. The level of consciousness had gone up and down all day long, but he had not once during the whole day been long enough conscious so that the doctors could have taken the electric brain cardiogram while being conscious.

When we walked into the room Samuel was lying on his back on the bed and he saw us and recognized us right away.  I could see in the way he looked at us that he knew why we had come there. The nurses worked on him with tubes and needles and I waited for a suitable moment to start healing him. Then both of the nurses went out of the room for a little while and I took the chance. I commanded all the extra viruses and  bacteria to leave Samuel’s body and his body to be healed back to the normal condition in the name of Jesus Christ. Then I asked him how he felt and what he wanted me to do.  Samuel said that he has a terribly bad headache. I laid my hand on his forehead and commanded the headache to leave with all it’s causes and bugs and all the impurities to go away from his brain and for the brain functions to return to normal. Then Samuel said that his head does not hurt at all anymore. The headache was completely gone. From that point onward Samuel was clearly conscious all the time.

Then I asked Samuel if his stomach was hurting. He answered and said that it is hurting like crazy.  I was about to begin healing again when the nurses stormed back in to the room. They bustled about with something for a few minutes and then went out again. I took the chance again and laid my hands on Samuel’s stomach and commanded the pain to leave with all it’s causes and bugs and all the impurities to go away from his body and all the functions of the stomach to return to normal.  Samuel said right away that  his stomach did not hurt at all anymore. Then I asked him what else has to be healed still.  He said that his eyes are hurting and that he cannot direct them on the same subject and that he cannot focus them properly.  So he was seeing everything double.

I was about to begin to minister again when the nurses came in this time with an elderly female doctor. She said that the samples of spinal fluid which had been taken in the previous hospital were so messy (when they took the samples blood had oozed from the wounds to the spinal fluid) that they had to take new samples at the intensive care unit of this Children’s Clinic.  Then she went away and I suggested Raija to ask the nurses for 3 more minutes private time with Samuel before they would take him to the intensive care unit. Raija  asked the nurses for a couple of minutes time to pray with Samuel privately and they agreed right away and went out of the room. So I was able to continue ministering. I laid my hand on Samuel’s forehead right on top of the eyes and commanded their functions to return to normal, the swelling to go down and all the impurities to leave and all the pain to leave with all it’s causes. The pain did not leave right away nor could he direct his eyes yet any better. I commanded the same things again until I got peace in my heart and I said to Samuel not to worry because his eyes would be all right very soon and the pain would go away. Then I asked Samuel, Raija and Elizabeth if there was anything else I should minister to. Samuel and Elizabeth could not find anything more to do, but Raija said that the lungs have to be healed since he could not yet breath without extra oxygen. So I continued healing and laid my hands on his chest and commanded all bugs and impurities to leave his lungs and all the damage that had been caused to the air-cells to heal back to normal.  Then I asked him to take a deep breath and tell me how it felt.  He said that it felt good.

Then the nurses came back and asked if they could come back and we invited them into the room. They finished their preparations and started to take Samuel to the intensive care unit which was two stories higher in the building.  We went with them and we decided that I would go pick up their two other children, Daniel and Saara to see Samuel and that Elizabeth would stay with Raija until I come back. Antti (Raija’s husband) was also on his way, returning home from a work trip to Greece.  Antti would take the children back home later.

I picked up Saara and Daniel and all the things Raija had asked for to be picked up from home. After I returned to the Children’s Clinic (about 2 hours later) I reported with the children to the intensive care unit and marched in with them to Samuel.  Antti and Raija were with him there. As soon as Samuel saw Saara  and Daniel the measurement indication board (a small TV kind of a thing) showed that his heart beat went up about 10 beats and his blood pressure went up some notches  also. That would not be possible if the man is unconscious or about to be unconscious. Then I showed my forefinger to Samuel and I could see that he was immediately able to direct both of his eyes to it and focus on it and that he saw it as one finger. Then we discussed the situation and I saw that the medication (some antibiotics and hydrocortisone) that had been going on when I last saw Samuel had already been ended.  So I felt that the situation was under control and I left for home with Elizabeth.

The next message came from Raija:

We just got a phone call from the hospital.  Samuel will be moved in the morning to Töölö- Hospital.  Based on the spinal fluid samples there might be a broken blood vessel in the neck or somewhere else which is bleeding into the spinal cord. In Töölö there is neural surgery. 

(Töölö-Hospital is the most sophisticated hospital in Finland dealing with neural surgery).

I called back to Raija right a way and I confirmed to her that there could be no more bleeding because Samuel was now conscious. We decided to pray that Samuel would not have to suffer from any more painful medical examinations.  I had in my mind that a fourth set of spinal samples is really not anymore needed. Then I called to Laurence and we prayed on the phone that the doctors would see in Töölö that the boy is healthy.  Then we went to sleep.

On Saturday Antti sent the following messages:

Antti Pohjolainen  March 24th  at 10.24

Samuel is doing better. Today there will be a contrast medium (opaque matter) picture and a magnetic picture taken.

Antti  March 24th   at 14:19

The brain picture of Samuel is taken and his head is completely OK.

Next will be the magnetic picture.

Later during the evening Antti called and told that according to the magnetic picture also Samuel’s spinal cord is perfectly all right and there is no bleeding to be seen. As the conclusion to this the specialists in Töölö sent Samuel back to the Children’s Clinic.

On Sunday Raija sent the following message:

Raija March 25th  at 13:00

Hi! Samuel is doing now much better. Yesterday evening he was moved to the infectious diseases ward to his own room.  I slept the night next to him on a mattress on the floor.

Samuel slept well.  Today he has eaten some food.  I washed his hair etc. During the evening we can try to take a shower. The catheter and the tubes for the drip are a bit difficult. Anyway the boy has the opinion that he could go home!

Then Samuel sent the next message to me by Raija’s phone:

Samuel  March 25^th  at 15:00

Thank you Heikki for healing me.  Right now we are walking in the garden of the Hospital.  You healed an internal bleeding in me. Without you and without God I still would be lying unconscious in the intensive care unit. Thank Good! Samuel

Samuel’s understanding of his sickness is based on the things he heard from the nurses and doctors who were taking care of him. So it is clear that the medical staff of the hospital did not yet know what originally had been wrong with Samuel

On Monday we called back and forth several times and it became clear to me that everything is not yet all right.  Samuel was being sick and in great pain.

After I finished work I went again to the Children’s Clinic. Antti was there with Samuel in the infectious diseases ward.  Antti told me right away that being sick is caused by the great pains Samuel has. The pains again were caused by the many spinal punctures the doctors had made on Friday.  There were no other symptoms like diarrhoea or anything else pointing to a stomach bug.  The doctors had said that to recover from the spinal punctures will take still some days. I then asked Antti and Samuel that shall I continue to minister healing to Samuel.  Both of them agreed eagerly.

Samuel was lying on his stomach on the bed in the only position he could be in.  I asked Samuel first to pray and while he was praying it became clear what he wanted to be done. I put my hand on the back of his head and I commanded the headache to leave immediately with all it’s causes. Samuel said the it was gone right away.  He said that his head felt like “empty” since there was no more pain left.  Then I asked where else there were pains.  Samuel said that his back was hurting and especially the lower back had such pains that he could not move without screaming. I stroked his back lightly with my hand and I commanded all the pain there to leave with all it’s causes and all the damages caused by the punctures to be healed and the over-sensitiveness of his central nervous system to go away and the system to relax. Samuel said right away that the back is not hurting at all any more. Then he said that his neck is hurting very much.  We tried to think why it was hurting and then decided to command it to go with it’s causes. Samuel said that the pain was relieved a little bit, but was not gone all the way.  Then I said that we should wait and see what happens and how it feels a little bit later.  Then Samuel turned over and the nurses soon got him ready for a shower. Samuel walked in to the shower by himself and took the shower alone.

After the nurses had done all the evening preparations Antti and I started to inquire about the state of the pain in his neck and the exact place.  I then once more commanded the pain to leave with all it’s causes and the muscles in his neck and back to relax.  Samuel said that it felt better. We discussed still for some time and then I got on my way back home.

On Tuesday morning I called Raija and she told that Samuel will soon be released from the hospital. Then she sent the following messages.

Raija March 27^th  at 12:45

Samuel gets to go home from the hospital.  All the medical treatment is now finished and the boy is completely healed.  The temperature was in the morning 38,3 and is now 37.  Samuel made the decision to go home.  Thank you very much for your many prayers!

I sent to you the same message as I sent to Elizabeth and Pia.

On Thursday, 29th March the doctors finally discovered the original cause of the illness.  It was the virus which causes chicken pox.  Samuel had  only a very mild

case of chicken pox when he was a small child.  In such cases the virus can stay dormant in the body and break out for example as spinal fever as it did now with Samuel.  The virus was found in the first  2 sets of spinal fluid samples which were taken in the first hospital in Espoo before I ministered healing to Samuel.  They found nothing about chicken pox in the 3^rd set of  the samples which were taken in the Children’s Clinics intensive care unit after I ministered healing to Samuel. Our God truly is great!
